Poimena Reserve

Poimena Reserve

From Beedhams Reserve parking we wended our way through streets to Roseneath Park. The hill up to Poimena reserve has become a lot steeper and longer since we last did it, so we cut our walk short.

Leaving the car park

wending

Roseneath Park

Disc Golf (aka frisbee)

The steep uphill bit

But nice views

Mount Wellington kunanyi

Made it!

A short detour for a look over northern suburbs

More views

Mount Faulkner

Mount Dromedary

Heading back down the hill

The steep downhill

It became very hot and we ran out of time so we returned along the road and rail line.

Gordon's Hill

 Gordon's Hill

Steady rain eased off and we had a mostly dry(ish) walk.

From Montagu Bay we crossed Tasman Highway on the footbridge, went past the Rose Bay High School sports field and did an anticlockwise circuit of Gordon's Hill. It was an adventure due to the way the track had been smoothed out, so the mud was very sticky, and slippery.

Here we are setting off in drizzly rain

Round we go

Mud!

Onto the western side with views to Lindisfarne

Shoe washing station 😅

Mount Wellington kunanyi is in there somewhere

We were being watched!

Not a very good day for the cruise passengers

Back towards the footbridge

Memorial to the people who lost their lives when the Tasman Bridge collapsed in1975

There were 8 Ramblers. Lunch was at Glass Garden by the Bay (ex Currency)
