Bracken Lane

Bracken Lane from Hall's Saddle

Today's walk covered some favourite ferny tracks as well as the recently developed Bracken Lane track.

We met at Hall's Saddle

Took the Pipeline Track towards Fern Tree

The aqueduct taking the pipeline across Dunn's Creek

 Then the steps uphill,

Avoiding this section of the walk, three people took their own route and discovered some bird orchids

Chilloglottis triceratops.

At Fern Tree we took a path through the recently opened playground

To find the Fern Glade Track which will take us to Pillinger Drive

It starts off nice and level but soon begins to climb...but gently(ish)

Our attention was taken by this tall thin manfern

Minties walk through station

Possum attack?

We reach the turning point onto Silver Falls Track

(not uphill which everyone appreciated)

We reach Pillinger Drive and cross it to go...

...down Bracken Lane

At the bottom of Bracken Lane there is the start of a track designed for mountain bikes and we zig zag all the way down

And finally reach our cars

There were nineteen Ramblers. Lunch was at Fern Tree Tavern.

Alum Cliffs

Alum Cliffs
last walked on 28/3/2018

We met at  Tyndall Beach for this walk . It was very cold and windy but the rain held off and it was quite sheltered in the trees. The sun came out as well.

Up the track above the beach and onwards into the bush

Looking back across to Blackmans Bay

Looking down, hoping for a glimpse of a falcon.

Pineapple orchid in the early stage of flowering. (Thanks Jean)

Yay!

Nearly at our destination, some people chose the Lookout loop

Looking down onto Taroona Beach, with Tranmere and Howrah in the background.

Our destination comes into view, time for a bit of a sit down and a chat.

Then we returned the same way, noting some natural features and wildlife

There were 18 Ramblers and we had lunch at Beachfront 32.
