Hobart Rivulet 20th June 2018
This area was subject to some dramatic and destructive flooding a few weeks ago. The footpath survived, mostly, but has been resurfaced so it was a bit muddy. One section has been closed.Workers were everywhere repairing and rebuilding. A rockfall has halted rockclimbers for now. It was very cold even though the sun came out.
Pre walk briefing..
Setting off.
Some evidence of flood damage
Some set off up and over the hill while others stayed on the flat.
Reward for effort
and more wild life.
Something interesting?
The sunlight was highlighting the tree trunks

and we reach our "turnaround" point where the Rivulet goes under the city centre.
Now, to see it all from the opposite direction
Yay!
Evidence of floods.
Large pieces have tumbled down the rockface. Usually this is all grey but newly exposed rock, or freshly washed is redder.
The part of the track which was closed, showing the way the water has undercut the stone wall.
Mmm!
Some negotiation of the track where it passes through the car park (closed for repair), past the Cascade Brewery looking good against the mountain.

and so to lunch.
Someone got three bowls (and very happy about it) , someone got a huge plateful and someone had to wait a bit. All delicious... at The Brewhouse.
