The Arch Bruny Island

The Arch  Bruny Island

After some research and a couple of phone calls a small group of us decided to risk the smoke from bushfires in Franklin and Geeveston. As it happened the wind must have shifted and it was reasonably clear, at least close up, and even sunny at times.

A decider was that someone needed to collect things from a boat in Kettering anyway so we drove down for that, also a look, a coffee and... a boat trip!

Arrived in heaps of time, first on, first off!

Slight murk as we left Kettering

But a pleasant ride

Slight murk on arrival at the Bruny Island terminal.
No sign of the Sea Eagles or nest.

But clear enough for us on the track

The lagoon was  very dry

But this Melaleuca gibbosa was a stand out

Yellow Tailed black cockatoos followed us all the way

So many seed pods

Banksia marginata (silver banksia)

The track we are not taking today (it goes uphill!) Maybe next time!

We headed to Moorina Bay

Lovely beach and awesome cliffs, rocks and caves and ...

The Arch!
We had to enjoy it fully (possibly irresponsibly)

Watched by a very patient local, perhaps a baby waiting to be told what to do, but it seemed unmovable

A lunch spot and a variety of lunch choices

Before a reluctant goodbye as we remembered the ice cream shop back at the ferry

That is Cape Queen Elizabeth in the distance.

As it happened we made such good time to the ferry terminal that we got waved onto the previous one and missed out on ice creams. This is the new ferry...what a performance! But we resisted the urge to climb the arch.

One of our great walks I think.
