Echo Sugarloaf

 Echo Sugarloaf from Randalls Bay

We did this walk a couple of years ago but since then the path has been extended to form a loop. The first section is along Randalls Bay Beach.

Our destination, Echo Sugarloaf

Then up some steps from Williams Road, where they make special provision for air mail deliveries

Into the foothills

The much anticipated "lolly break"

We came out onto a grassy section with a panel explaining the history of the track

Onwards to the top, after a short sit down to rest and admire the view

The summit where we filled in the visitors book.

This was previously the end of the track but the section ahead opened in November 2020 as the sign says.

Looking down on Randalls Bay Beach.

The start of path down

Looking past the hollow tree to Adamsons Peak and Hartz Mountain

The descent is quite steep but the track has been made to zig zag through the she oak forest, and is very easy. The surface is smooth and there are rough pavers in spots likely to be wet or slippery at times. We were impressed.

The return track joins the outward route but the signage is a little confusing if you don't realise where you are.

There were 9 Ramblers and we took our own lunch

The original concept for the loop, I'm glad they rethought the second section.
