Cascade Walking Track
It was the coldest start for a while but the sun was out and there was no wind as we set off up the track
The dry forest becomes damper and gloomier
The bridge dedicated to Peter Degraves, engineer, who studied architecture and law, founded Cascade Brewery, was also a sawmiller, flour miller, shipbuilder and backer of the Theatre Royal. Possibly also a crook. ( https://eprints.utas.edu.au/11730/1/Jefferys.pdf )
The track zig zags uphill after the bridge
First sighting of kunanyi Mount Wellington
Hobart Rivulet
Some fungi and an odd tree trunk
Baby ferns
We emerge onto Old Farm Road
A welcome sight
Two people decided to return down the walking track, the rest of us followed Old Farm Road
A glimpse of the Derwent River and Eastern Shore
Who is this, labouring up the road towards us?
Guy Fawkes Rivulet is on our left
There were 10 Ramblers and lunch was at the Cascade Hotel
