 Calvert's Lagoon from Goat Bluff

We spent a time at the Lookout and talking about Betsey Island. This island has an interesting history.

Black Jack Rock which was the site of a dramatic parking misadventure in 1994

We reach Hope Beach, also known as Goat Beach. Here is some interesting information.

Walking back towards the road to find the track to Hope Beach

Here it is!

Hope Beach with Betsey Island and Black Jack Rock.

This hole in the cliff was previously a gun emplacement

Sea Urchins have been at work, sucking out the contents of these shells.

We leave the beach to pick up another road

Yay!

The entrance to the lagoon is a bit overgrown, but we found it.

Lolly break

The lagoon circuit

Samphire. Bush tucker as a source of calcium and iron, the ash was also used in glass making.

Tiny shells, at the high tide mark?

Once we have gone around the lagoon we find the horse trail to lead us back to the cars.

Emerging from the horse trail and trying to locate the next bit of track

Back at the car park, looking across to the sand mine

There were 14 Ramblers, lunch was at She's Cooked Cafe. Appropriate beverage available.
