Knocklofty Reserve Wednesday 3rd October 2018

Knocklofty Reserve Wednesday 3rd October 2018

A couple of options today, the Summit loop (with the word summit being a clue!) and a gentler "Roam around the foothills" for those who didn't feel like hills today.

Sorting out groups and directions

First stop the Frog Ponds. Not a lot of pond and no sign of the six  frog species,  as the vegetation has grown up.

This is where we parted company with the Strollers who were going to explore the area where John Glover painted some of his famous works.

The track leads down to the scene depicted in the painting above.

Off they go

Happy as!

Another group made a detour on the way back from the summit to see the location. They hadn't had quite enough of uphill sections.

The Ramblers are setting off to conquer the summit, very happily

Local flora. Purple love creeper?

She found a hat.

More flora

The view over the city of Hobart. This area is rich in history of woodcutting, farming and sandstone quarrying, get more information here

Having achieved our goal we begin the treacherous descent

Being recorded for posterity (or blackmail)
