Calvert's Hill Cremorne

Calvert's Hill from Cremorne Beach

Today we were led by Tas to the top of Calvert's Hill from Cremorne beach, while another group made its way round the Spit.
We all enjoyed fabulous views and cool, cloudy but dry conditions.

People dressed for the conditions

Northwards along Cremorne Beach

At this point the smaller group returned to follow the shoreline southwards, with Cape Deslacs in front of them.

Yay!

**
The rest headed up a little treacherous track northwards
It was nice to get out of the chilly breeze and everyone negotiated the goat track with ease.

Looking back to see the others disappearing into the distance

We followed the coastal strip

Past several ponds with interesting footprints in the mud at the edges

Looking across to Primrose Sands

It was a bit up and down, but mainly up.

Tas in the lead

Some portraits

Wayne had a go at cow whispering

with help from Kay

By now we are climbing steeply (see the elevation map at the end)

kunanyi Mt. Wellington barely visible today

We reach the summit

Looking down on the Spit, no sign of the others

The view southwards to Pipeclay Lagoon

And the descent, short and sweet

To return to our original coastal track back to the beach

??

A bit of local history

Terns, refusing to hover once I had the camera out.
