Magazine Gully

Magazine Gully

The weather wasn't very encouraging. Drizzle and bitterly cold, we were only tempted to continue by a small patch of blue sky.
We parked and walked from Howden Boat Ramp.

We followed the inland track as the tide was too high for the rock shelf route though we did go onto it at one section.

Inland again, in a patch of tea tree.

The coastal reserve takes us past local homes with lovely views and a range of gardening styles and tree forms.

A few wild flowers blooming

We came out onto Tinderbox Road and took the track along the edge.

Close up of the letterbox

We came to the entrance we were looking for and started the gentle upward climb

The first of the buildings in the Howden Powder Magazine collection

Then we turned and retraced our steps, the sun came out and it wasn't too cold...until we reached the shore again.

A Scarlet Robin from a rarely photographed angle

The river was looking a little less gloomy by now

Mm??

We can see our cars parked ready to whisk us off to lunch, but first...

The tide had ebbed a bit so we were able to enjoy the rock formations

A pair of sea eagles flew over and I managed a shot, before I sat down suddenly and decided we had enough pictures for today!
