Roscommon Wetlands

 Roscommon Wetlands and Lauderdale Beach

After meeting in Ringwood Road we entered the equestrian park and took the path around to the wetlands gate

The man made wetlands has been created as part of the storm water management program.

(from Clarence Council website:-The wetlands consists of a series of channels and bio-retention basins which allow water to be filtered by planted native rushes and sedges. The area has been transformed to a vibrant wetland community which hosts a variety of insects, birds, native mammals, fish and other fresh water aquatic biota.)

Some of us went anticlockwise, others took a longer circuit.

Two wise birds?

We crossed Balook St and continued southwards

At the end of Manata St we took the steps down to Lauderdale Beach

The sun came out and the day warmed up

Waiting at the end of the beach for everyone to catch up before setting off up Bambra Street  (excuse for a lolly break)

We took this section of Tangara Trail to return to the wetlands.
Jay's uncle is well known at the Archery Club.

Jay's uncle who was from WA, is famous as an Olympic Archer.
